An ambulance struck an Upper West Side pedestrian early Sunday, sending the woman into the path of another vehicle and killing her on the spot, authorities said.
It was the third fatal accident within two blocks of 96th Street and Broadway in a little more than a week.
In this latest deadly crash, a 26-year-old woman was crossing 96th — mid-block between Broadway and West End Avenue about 4:45 a.m. — when she was clipped by the driver’s side mirror of a westbound ambulance, police said.
She was thrown face-down into the eastbound lanes when she was run over by a red, four-door Dodge Charger, officials said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers, of the ambulance and Charger, stayed at the scene, cops said.
A week ago Friday night, a 9-year-old boy was struck and killed by a taxi on 97th and West End. That tragedy happened moments after a tour bus dragged a 73-year-old man to his death at 96th and Broadway.
