The nanny-nightmare appears to be over.

Less than 48 hours after a live-in nanny created a national media firestorm over allegations that she refused to move out of a California family’s home — despite being fired — the family says she’s gone.

Marcella and Ralph Bracamonte told ABC News Friday that 64-year-old Diane Stretton walked out of their Upland home early Thursday morning and hasn’t been seen since.

Eerily, none of her belongings were taken from her bedroom, however, leaving wonder on if this is really the end.

Stretton previously made national headlines after the Bracamontes publicly accused the woman of refusing to leave after she stopped working and caring for their three children, which violated their live-in agreement.

“The first few weeks she was awesome,” Marcella Bracamonte told ABC News of Stretton’s hiring off Craigslist in March. “She would come places with us, help out the kids. She was really great.”

Then, without warning, Stretton stopped coming out of her bedroom, unless it was time to eat, said Bracamonte.

In a recent ABC video, Bracamonte gave a tour of her kitchen and showed her refrigerator’s doors chained shut.

She also described herself as locking the bedroom doors to prevent Stretton’s access while claiming that the nanny asked to have the house all to herself from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

When the Bracamontes went to the police about Stretton’s alleged refusal to leave, they were told that it was a civil matter and could only be solved with an eviction.

Stretton was reportedly presented with the eviction notice on Wednesday.
