The “L” could stand for larceny.
Police are looking for a slippery straphanger who robbed at least three women on the L train in Brooklyn this month.
On June 17 at about 12:15 p.m., he ripped an iPod from the first woman’s hand at the Graham Ave. station in Williamsburg.
The next day, at about 2:05 p.m., the thief struck again at the same station, this time stealing a Samsung Galaxy smartphone.
On June 20, he swiped another Samsung Galaxy smartphone at the Grand St. station in Williamsburg.
A three-day Daily News expose that appeared earlier this week chronicled subway crimes from 2008 to 2013. Data analysis in “How Safe Is Your Subway?” showed grand larcenies were the most frequent criminal activity on the rails.
During that five-year period, 19 people at the Graham Ave. station and 18 at Grand St. reported thefts. The L train stop with the most rip-offs was in Manhattan: 168 thefts were reported at the Union Square Station, a hub where five other train lines converge.
