The notorious “Manhattan Madam” — who loves to boast that she provided hookers for ex-Gov. Eliot Spitzer — said Monday that she plans to vigorously fight federal charges alleging she’s a drug dealer.
Appearing in Manhattan federal court, former escort-service operator Kristin Davis waived indictment on charges of illegally peddling prescriptions pills, a procedural move that instead allowed her to plead not guilty to the charges through a felony information.
“To get an indictment is a test of nothing because the agent goes in and testifies on hearsay on top of hearsay,” Davis’ lawyer Daniel Hochheiser told reporters afterwards when asked why Davis waived indictment. “This is just more of defense strategy that I can’t go into detail about.
“These are local allegations dressed up as a federal case created because of who Ms. Davis is — not because of any interstate criminal activity,” added Hochheiser.
When asked if the move to waive indictment was a prelude to Davis cutting a future plea deal, Hochneiser said, “Absolutely not! We look forward to trial.”
The buxom bleached blonde allegedly sold hundreds of pills to a dealer from whom she had bought drugs in the past, and who secretly began working as an informant after getting arrested in December 2012.
A Manhattan federal court complaint says Davis personally handed over pills in exchange for cash on three occasions between January and March of 2013, and also arranged for another person to sell the dealer a stash in April.
The drugs included oxycodone, amphetamines and alprazolam, the active ingredient in Xanax, according to court papers.
All of the alleged exchanges occurred after Davis, 38, filed papers in July to run as a Libertarian Party candidacy for comptroller. She had announced her brief campaign a day after Spitzer — who stepped down as governor in disgrace over a prostitution scandal — said he would challenge Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer for the Democratic nomination.
During her court appearance, Davis told Manhattan federal Judge Edgardo Ramos that she is currently seeing a psychiatrist and current taking the insomnia-relieving drug Ambien. She said she’s currently alert but was previously heavily medicated for a five-year period through prescription meds and that it affected her “cognitive abilities.”
She remained mum outside court, even declining questions about her education in response to her telling the judge she is going to “school.”
Among notorious hooker booker’s escorts were foxy blond Rebecca Woodard, who claims in a new tell-all book that Spitzer lusted after violence— revealing in graphic detail how the love gov pinned her to a bed inside a posh, Murray Hill apartment and then gripped her by the neck until she feared for her safety.
The violence was scripted by Spitzer, who wanted his $ 1,500-a-session hooker to follow a role-play dialogue in which she would pretend she had just taken a self-defense class.
The kinky politician would then pretend to test her skills by announcing, “Well, then, let’s see if you learned anything,” and attacking her.
Davis is charged with four counts of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
