Mobster gets 12 years for ordering hit during grandma’s funeral

A Colombo crime family scion was sentenced to 12 years in prison Thursday for ordering a hit on a rival gangster — all while attending his grandmother’s funeral in Brooklyn on a court-approved outing.

Wiseguy Theodore “Skinny Teddy” Persico — nephew of notorious Colombo boss Carmine “The Snake” Persico — whispered his lethal order to mob goons at the Dyker Heights wake in 1993.

The order resulted in the assassination of Colombo rival Joe Scopo in front of his Queens home in 1993.

Before his prearranged sentence was handed down, the lanky Persico told Brooklyn federal court Judge Sandra Townes that he has abandoned his life of crime.

“I want to assure you and promise you that I won’t be here again,” Persico muttered.

Despite being handcuffed, and with corrections officers hovering nearby at the funeral home, Persico told his underlings that he wanted Scopo erased. “You’ve got to kill Joey,” recalled fellow hood Anthony Russo during an unrelated trial in 2012.

Persico wanted his fellow Colombo clan member rubbed out because they were on opposite sides of a bloody war for supremacy.

He pleaded guilty to conspiracy and extortion in 2012 in exchange for the 12-year sentence.

Persico, 50, is reputed to be a leading candidate to ascend to the top of the Colombo crew when his uncle — who is currently in jail — passes away.
