Nearly a dozen children were taken to a hospital after a school bus was forced to stop in Brooklyn because a student set off a firework on Tuesday, sources said.

The bus hit the brakes once it filled with smoke at Ocean Ave. and Dorchester Rd. in Kensington about 7:22 a.m., the sources said.

An 11-year-old boy who was on the bus told WNBC-TV that a green smoke filled the bus — which was headed to Brooklyn Dreams Charter School — before the driver pulled over to open the windows and call for help.

Emergency workers arrived a short time later and brought 11 victims to a local hospital, where they were expected to recover.
