A gunman traded shots with police in Queens early Saturday before ditching his .22-caliber pistol and disappearing into the night, cops said.
A sergeant and an officer from the 110th Precinct responded to a 911 call about a group of men trespassing on property on Lamont Ave. near Case St. in Elmhurst at 1:45 a.m. when they spotted a man in his early 20s running with a gun in his hand, police said.
The suspect was firing wildly at another man near Foley St. when cops intervened, police said. As the cops pulled their weapons and ordered the suspect to stop, he whirled around and fired, missing them. Cops returned fire, but did not strike the gunman, police said.
