Road Runners Race 10k at Queens Park

Thousands of runners hit the streets for a 10k in Queens.

More than 8,000 runners came together this morning in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

The race was part of the New York Road Runners clubs’ five borough “You Run the City” event.

Following the race NY1 spoke with both of the winners.

“I’m very happy. I’m really very happy. These are really super competitive races so winning any one of the Road Runner races is a big deal,” said first place finisher Brent Frissora.

“A 10k is the perfect distance because it’s not too long that you have to really focus on long mileage, but it’s enough that you get to the end of the race and you feel amazingly accomplished,” said first place finisher Jayne Grebinski.

Some of the fastest runners finished the race in about half an hour.

Both the female and male winners were New Yorkers.
