Family and friends will gather to say goodbye to Avonte Oquendo in Manhattan later today.
A funeral service is being held at the Greenwich Village Funeral Home for the autistic 14-year-old.
Following the service, Avonte’s family and friends will gather for a private mass at St. Joseph’s Church on Sixth Avenue.
Avonte disappeared after he ran out of his Long Island City school in early October.
After a massive citywide search, his remains were discovered last week washed up along the shore in Queens.
Avonte’s mother, Vanessa Fontaine, filed a lawsuit against the New York City Police Department this week.
She’s demanding video evidence and internal records related to Avonte’s disappearance.
