Derailed Freight Train at Jamaica Station Causes LIRR Delays

A freight train derailment is causing transit troubles in Queens for the evening commute.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says around 3 p.m. three cars from the New York and Atlantic Railway train jumped the tracks just east of Jamaica Station.

Several crew members were on the train but there were no reports of injuries.

The MTA says the derailed train is blocking one of the tracks coming out of Jamaica Station.

Two evening rush hour trains were canceled, but around 5:40 p.m., service returned close to schedule.
