A political strategist who was a fundraiser for Mayor de Blasio’s campaign is earning $ 8,000 a month advising City Hall on high-level appointments, the Daily News has learned.
Political heavy hitter Alexandra Stanton, CEO of Empire Global Ventures, was hired by the Mayor’s Office of Appointments to find and vet candidates for top commissioner posts.
She, along with two other “portfolio managers,” assumed the task after the transition committee was disbanded in February.
Stanton — a well-connected operative who introduced Gov. Cuomo to his girlfriend, Food Network star Sandra Lee — is expected to stay for a few more months, said spokeswoman Amy Spitalnick.
Stanton, 44, served on the host committee last October for the Hillary Clinton fundraiser for de Blasio, which brought in $ 1 million.
She also donated $ 2,000 to de Blasio’s campaign last year, according to the city’s Campaign Finance Board, where she was listed as a “homemaker.”
Stanton has served as chief of staff at the Empire State Development Corporation under Cuomo and on former Gov. Eliot Spitzer’s transition team.
She raised money for Julie Menin’s losing bid for Manhattan borough president. The mayor named Menin commisioner of the city’s Department of Consumer Affairs last week.
A City Hall spokeswoman said Stanton was not involved with the Consumer Affairs search.
