Police Arrest Pair Who Allegedly Tried to Abduct Four Girls in Queens

Two Queens teenagers are under arrest in connection with two attempted abductions on Wednesday.

Police say Joshua Wright and Andrew Ghulam drove a green SUV to follow young girls in two separate incidents in Queens Village.

According to police, the first incident happened at about 4 p.m. Wednesday, when they say an 11-year-old girl noticed a dark green SUV following her near the intersection of 111th Avenue and 208th Street.

There was a man behind the wheel and another who got out of the vehicle wearing a black mask, according to police.

Police say he attempted to talk to the girl, but she ran away.

Earlier in the day, NY1 spoke to the victim, Amoni Jefferson, and her mother, Eyeshia.

“I was walking home from school with a couple of friends, and then me and my friends started noticing a van around the corner, and then, I told my friends to run home,” Amoni Jefferson said. “So then I started walking faster, and then, when we got to that house, he got out the car and I ran.”

“I was shaken,” Eyeshia Jefferson said. “First of all, it’s too close to home. You hear things like that on TV.”

Shortly after the first attempt, police say a 10-year-old girl and two 11-year-old girls noticed a green Jeep Cherokee with a license plate that included the number 74 following them near the intersection of 113th Avenue and 196th Street.

Police say the driver passed a firearm to the passenger, who exited the vehicle, again with a mask over his face.

The girls hid, and the suspects drove away, according to police.

Wright and Ghulam are charged with attempted unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a child, criminal possession of a weapon and harassment.
