Three Men Exonerated in Brooklyn Murder Cases

Three half-brothers were exonerated inside a Brooklyn courthouse Tuesday after their convictions were found by the district attorney to be based on questionable evidence.

Alvena Jennette, Robert Hill and Darryl Austin all had their records cleared but Hill is the only one who will actually be released from prison.

Jennnette was already released on parole in 2007.

Austin died in prison 14 years ago.

“I’m feeling great that everything is over with, I’m just, you know, thank God every day. That’s all I can say,” Jennnette said.

When asked by reporters what his first reaction was Hill said, “Oh God I just started crying.”

All three men were accused in separate murder cases that were investigated by now retired New York City Police Department Detective Louis Scarcella.

Brooklyn District Attorney Ken Thompson is investigating 57 of his cases after he was shown to have falsified evidence and rely on questionable witnesses.

Scarcella has denied any wrongdoing.
