Two-Alarm Fire Breaks Out in Manhattan Building

A fire erupted inside a five-story building in Manhattan Monday afternoon.

Firefighters responded to the two-alarm call around 3:40 p.m.

They said it was centered in the basement of the building on West 57th Street between Ninth Avenue and 10th Avenue.

The FDNY said the building belongs to a house of worship.

There were no reported injuries.

Officials said a hazmat team was called in due to possible exposure to asbestos.
