Roy Hargrove admits to cocaine possession

Grammy-winning jazz musician Roy Hargrove copped to cocaine possession Thursday in Manhattan Criminal Court in exchange for two days of community service.

The 44-year-old virtuoso trumpeter, who has recorded with musical greats Herbie Hancock and Wynton Marsalis, was busted buying four glassines of blow inside a car parked in the West Village April 5, according to criminal complaint.

Judge Neil Ross encouraged the famed musician to steer clear of trouble.

“I hope we can be confident about the fact we won’t see you in this building again,” he said to Hargrove, who looked dapper in a bowtie, navy jacket and crisp linen pants. “There are other places people want to see you and people who’ve wanted to see you for a very long time — just not here.”

Hargrove, sporting a faux-hawk, vigorously shook his head yes.

Hargrove, who lives on the Lower East Side, was busted after cops spotted him hop into a known dealer’s car parked at the corner of 7th Avenue and 10th Street at about 4:30 a.m., court papers show.

When cops arrested Hargrove, who recently played with Stevie Wonder at an International Jazz Festival, they found the four glassines as well as two dollar bills with cocaine residue.

He declined to comment as he left court with his girlfriend and attorney. The troubled trumpeter, originally from Waco, Texas, has prior raps for DUI and possession of marijuana.

If he keeps his nose clean – literally – and completes community service, the misdemeanor will be reduced to a violation and he’ll have no criminal record.

Hargrove won his first Grammy in 1997 for the Afro-Cuban album “Habana.” He went on to win a second Grammy in 2002 for a live recording with Harvey Hancock and Michael Brecker titled “Directions in Music.”

He’s also collaborated with R&B singers D’Angelo, Macy Gray and Erykah Badu and rapper Common.
