A teenager who says he was tossed through a window by a police officer made his first public appearance Saturday.
Fourteen-year-old Javier Payne says the incident happened at a hookah store on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx last Saturday.
Police say the teen was one of two being arrested for an alleged assault.
The store’s owner says he saw the teen with cops and heard the glass break, but didn’t see what happened.
Payne sat beside Reverend Al Sharpton today while he talked about the alleged use of force.
“When the police came and decided to arrest them, handcuff them, fine. We will deal with that in court whether Javier and his friend was right or wrong,” Sharpton said.
“But then other police come, get into an exchange with a 14-year-old child, and shoves him through the window pane of a local store. That is where two wrongs don’t make a right.”
The officer in question has been placed on a modified assignment while an internal investigation is being conducted.
