Kanye West has been more opinionated than usual lately.
During a 2014 Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity event, the rapper claimed he could redesign Instagram, according to The Guardian.
“The world as a whole is fucking ugly,” West said at the event, held Tuesday. “The Internet as a whole is fucking ugly, too.”
He went on to mention that he had asked Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom if he could work on improving the popular social media app.
“Why don’t you let us redo Instagram? Now, you know, Instagram is nice. It’s nice looking – I’m not knocking it,” the 37-year-old star said. “But in general, everyone spends all of their time looking at their screens or their phones. And just as a simple task, we could clean that up.”
West made these comments at the same event in which he revealed that he and wife Kim Kardashian had spent their honeymoon retouching wedding photos, including a shot of the two kissing in front of a wall of flowers that became the most-liked Instagram photo of all time.
The artist known as Yeezus didn’t limit his opinions to social media. He also had strong words for President Obama during a radio interview with Power106 FM on Thursday morning, according to the Daily Mail.
“You can’t effect change from inside the White House like that … You gotta have the money,” he said about the president. “Good ideas usually aren’t connected to money as much … Creativity and extreme genius are extremely cheap.”
West also discussed his own “creativity and extreme genius,” including responding to those who criticize him for his opinions.
“You do not want to go against the power,” he said. “I’m working on one mission, and that’s a mission from God.’”
