Roker, de Blasio joke about storm feud

Mayor de Blasio and “Today” show weatherman Al Roker made nice Monday more than a week after the affable weatherman blasted Hizzoner for keeping schools open during a nasty snowstorm.

The pair exchanged pleasantries after de Blasio cut the ribbon on the newly renovated Today Show Plaza at Rockefeller Center.

“We had a little chat about school closings and snow and we both want the best for our school kids,” Roker diplomatically told the mayor.

“That’s right, and Al, I think together, letting people know what’s going on with the weather, letting people know how they can be safe, that’s something we can do together, and I want you to know we have a little snow coming up next few days,” de Blasio said before presenting the weatherman with a gift.

“I’d like you actually to join us, this is the sanitation department official hat, and if you’d like to come out and join us with snow clearing this could be a new part of your career,” de Blasio said.

Roker replied that his dad was a bus driver and drove a snow clearing bus.

“So I’d love to do this. New York’s strongest!” Roker said.

DeBlasio then applauded sanit workers, saying they had done a great job this winter.

The network had announced ahead of time that the pair would discuss their Twitter feud.

Roker had harshly criticized de Blasio during the storm.

“I knew this am @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools would close schools. Talk about a bad prediction,” Roker tweeted at the time from Sochi, Russia, where he was covering the Winter Olympics.

“It’s going to take some kid or kids getting hurt before this goofball policy gets changed,” he tweeted. “Long range de Blasio forecast: 1 term.”

Roker also slammed de Blasio for blaming his poor decision on a faulty forecast from the National Weather Service.

“How dare @NYCMayorsOffice @NYCSchools throw NWS under the school bus. Forecast was on time and on the money,” Roker said.

And he icily ripped the mayor for putting people’s lives in danger.

“And how about all the parents and caregivers who have to scramble to get their kids home? Is there no one there with any common sense?

De Blasio responded at a news conference during the Feb. 13 storm, “It’s a different thing to run a city than to give weather on TV.”

Roker replied, “Mr. Mayor, I could never run NYC, but I know when it’s time to keep kids home from school.”

And he later apologized for his dim forecast of the mayor’s political future.

On Sunday night, the mayor playfully tweeted at Roker and “Today,” “Long-term forecast: sunny.”
