Police have made an arrest in connection with several small fires that fire officials say were set inside stores at two separate Queens malls Monday afternoon.

According to the New York City Fire Department, fires were set in a Macy’s in the Queens Center mall, and in a Sears, a Burlington Coat Factory and an Old Navy in the Rego Park Center mall.

Workers at the Queens Center mall say they saw firefighters rushing into the mall at approximately 3 p.m.

According to a Macy’s spokesperson, the fire in the Macy’s was put out by two employees before first responders arrived.

According to employees at Macy’s, the mall and the store itself never shut down.

Police say they have a 23-year-old man in custody in connection with the incident.

His identity has not yet been released, and there is no word on the charges he faces.

Fire officials say that no one was injured, and they say that there were no evacuations as a result of the fire.
