Alec Baldwin out in New York Monday.
As if Los Angeles doesn’t have enough to worry about with earthquakes, drought and the Kardashians, Alec Baldwin has expressed a desire to move to the City of Angels. In a candid essay in New York Magazine, the “30 Rock” star says he’s ready to pack up his family and head out west after experiencing what he calls “a sh–ty year.” During the span of 2013, Baldwin went from being labeled a homophobe by a paparazzo to being linked to Shia LaBeouf’s Broadway demise, followed by his talk show host “career” quickly going down the drain.
“I just can’t live in New York anymore,” he says. “Everything I hated about L.A. I’m beginning to crave. L.A. is a place where you live behind a gate, you get in a car, your interaction with the public is minimal. I used to hate that. But New York has changed.”
It would be a head-scratching move for the Long Island born actor — proclaiming he doesn’t want to be “Mr. Show Business” anymore, only to settle down in the capital of show business.
Here’s what he has in store in his future home city:
1. His options to rehab his image will be minimal
Gone are the days when Baldwin can kick a paparazzo or sling an (alleged) gay slur at a reporter, then hustle on down to “Saturday Night Live” studios to mend his fractured image with a comedy skit. Now, the best he can hope for is an occasional call for a radio interview with Ryan Seacrest.

2. More chances for paparazzi attacks
Within two years, he’s raked up a handful of attacks on the paparazzi in Manhattan. Just imagine the damage he’ll do when he moves to the paparazzi capital of the world.
3. The roads won’t be safe
If you think Baldwin’s temper on foot is bad, just wait until he’s stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the 405 during rush hour and the road rage begins to set in.

4. The war with Harvey Levin will only get worse
Baldwin has it out for Levin, who he alleges produced the gay slur from thin air and leaked the infamous voicemail to his daughter. “(He) exists in his own universe. He’s this kind of cretinous barnacle on the press,” Baldwin fondly says of the TMZ founder. Once the proximity between the two men narrows down, this can only result in stories that will give Levin’s website more traffic.
5. He may actually have a chance in politics
While the race to run for any office in New York appeared slim, Baldwin may have a better shot entering politics in the Golden State. Hey, if it worked for the Gipper and the Terminator, why can’t it happen to Jack Donaghy?
