PATH Riders Step Onto New WTC Platform

The Port Authority on Tuesday unveiled a major step forward in the construction of the new World Trade Center PATH station.

The new “Platform A,” a fully modernized platform featuring new lighting, speakers, illuminated signs, elevators and escalators.

The platform, with PATH service to Hoboken, is the first to open for the new station.

Riders who spoke with NY1 seemed impressed.

“It’s gorgeous, it looks a little futuristic,” said one PATH rider.

“Really nice. I mean it doesn’t feel like, it certainly doesn’t feel like the subway that’s for sure. It’s nice,” said another PATH rider.

Several similar platforms are expected at the new WTC Transportation hub which is set to open in phases through 2015.
