‘Whoa, Domino’: Pedestrians peeved at pizza bikes

Domino's pizza deliveryman Nelson Molina

Domino’s pizza deliveryman Nelson Molina admits he bikes on Uptown Manhattan sidewalks: ‘I am not gonna lie.’

Reckless Domino’s pizza delivery workers are turning the sidewalks of the Upper West Side into a pedestrian obstacle course.

Snowy roads throughout the W. 100s have compelled the pie-bearing workers to infringe upon the pedestrian space along Amsterdam and Columbus Aves.

“I am not going to lie: sometimes, we do it,” said a sheepish Nelson Molina, 46, after the Daily News busted him riding on the sidewalk on Amsterdam Ave. near W. 108th St., during a recent afternoon delivery. “It’s a problem.”

Peeved pedestrians gave police from the 24th Precinct an earful about the rogue peddlers.

Officers urged frustrated walkers to call 911 when a lawless deliveryman from Domino’s — or any other establishment — was spotted, but stressed there was not much they could without seeing a crime being committed.

Back in 2012, then-City Councilwoman Gale Brewer pushed for a summertime crackdown on the disobedient deliverers.

The Department of Transportation spent six months sending inspectors to problematic restaurants to make sure their couriers follow the rules.

Brewer also crafted a new law, passed later that year, requiring deliverymen to wear reflective vests and attend a commercial safety biking course before working the streets.

But it wasn’t enough. Fresh complaints have prompted now-Manhattan Borough President Brewer to demand that cops and the Department of Transportation do more in 2014.

Councilman Mark Levine urged the city to add more bike lanes uptown.

“The bicyclists should not be on the sidewalk to deliver their goods,” said Levine (D-Harlem).

Still, the tough words didn’t deter the Domino’s bikers who explained they need to ride on the sidewalks — at least until warmer weather returns.

“I don’t want to get hit by a car,” said Mohammad Imam, 36, who works out of the pizza chain’s Amsterdam Ave. site. “I don’t want to put myself in danger.”
