How well do you really know all of your Facebook friends?
A free app is designed to uncover whether the people you’re connected to on the social media site are hiding a dangerous secret.
The Friend Verifier App scans your Facebook friends and friend requests to see if any of them are listed on the national sex offender registry.
Color-coded results pop up within seconds of using the app.
If a friend’s name matches that of someone on the national sex offender registry, it comes back in yellow. If both the names and locations match, the result is highlighted in orange. If a friend’s name, location and date of birth are the same as a sex offender’s, the name is highlighted in red.
By March 16, the app, which launched in March 2012, had scanned more than 2 million people.
There are plans to expand the service to Twitter this summer, according to First Coast News.
