Henrik Lundqvist made 32 saves for the Rangers but the Blueshirts’ power play again came up short as they fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinal matchup Sunday night in Pittsburgh.
The 3-0 loss sent the Rangers home for Game 3 Monday night with the series tied at one game apiece.
The Blueshirts begin the game with three straight power plays in the first 10 minutes, but finished the contest 0-for-4 with the man advantage. After starting the playoffs with three plower play goals in their first eight chances, their power play has since gone 0-for-29.
For the second time in as many series, the Rangers will play back-to-back games with they return to Madison Square Garden Monday night.
Due in part to their first-round series going the full seven games, it will be the Blueshirts’ fifth game in seven days.
