Police say they opened fire on a suspect early Sunday morning after officers say he turned his gun on them.
The incident happened just after 2 a.m. outside the Washington Houses on 102nd Street in East Harlem.
Officers say they had received calls about a large “disorderly” group that involved a man with a handgun.
When officers began questioning that man, they say he began running.
During the pursuit, he allegedly pointed the above gun at the officers, who responded by opening fire on the suspect, hitting him several times.
NY1 is told that he was rushed to Weill Cornell Hospital, where he is listed in critical but stable condition.
