City Comptroller Proposes Battery Park City Money Go to NYCHA

The city comptroller proposes a new funding stream to pay for repairs to public housing units.

City Comptroller Scott Stringer says the extra money the Battery Park City Authority brings in every year should go directly to the New York City Housing Authority.

The Authority is a public corporation that oversees development in Battery Park City.

Stringer says it will have a $ 40 million surplus in 2014 and he expects that will be the case for the next 10 years as well.

He says right now that money is used generally for affordable housing projects, but should be focused on NYCHA facilities that are badly in need of repair.
