Eric Garner’s widow is renewing her call for the officer involved in his death to be arrested.
Garner’s widow spoke this weekend at Reverend Al Sharpton’s National Action Network rally, saying it’s time to get justice for her husband.
It comes a day after a coroner hired by the family agreed with the city medical examiner, saying Garner died from compression to the neck.
“The issue is why there has been no steps to go and deal with this policeman,” Sharpton said.
“I’m so grateful that the autopsy came up to support what the cop did to my husband. Plain and simple, they need to just arrest him,” said Esaw Garner.
Meanwhile, the police union says their expert will also take a look.
Garner was placed in a chokehold by police in July and complained to officers he couldn’t breathe.
The president of the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association says it wasn’t a chokehold, but a legal “seatbelt maneuver” that was applied to Garner.
