Finding a new four-legged friend could be easier than ever with Animal Care and Control of New York City rolling out its mobile adoption center for the first time Sunday.
The truck made its inaugural stop in Union Square and is designed to help cats and dogs in need of homes find potential owners in areas that don’t have animal shelters.
The group says the vehicle will help increase adoption rates and raise awareness of the importance of animal care.
“I’m gonna let everybody know that I know that’s looking for pets, when it gets around to a location that’s easy to access, let them come here,” said pet owner Rhonda Chapman.
“What we’re really hoping to do is two things: bring animals to people and save their lives. But really enrich the lives of New Yorkers. When you bring an animal into your life, when you save a life, you will be paid back tenfold, a hundred fold, in love, and companion and loyalty,” said ASPCA President & CEO Matt Bershadker.
