Broadway’s Lights Go Dark to Pay Tribute to Philip Seymour Hoffman

Friends, fans, and the theater community remembered actor Philip Seymour Hoffman Wednesday.

Broadway went dark for a moment to pay tribute to the late actor’s contributions to the stage.

Meanwhile, hundreds gathered for a vigil in Greenwich Village.

One friend said it was an opportunity for those who admired Hoffman to celebrate him.

“We’re just here to celebrate his life. It’s a personal loss for some of us, but it’s a real collective loss for many,” said actress Daphne Rubin-Vega. “The fact that he’s just so brilliant, and that is shared by so many, is why we’re here today.”
