New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will headline the first town hall meeting of his second term on Thursday.
With the Bridgegate scandal looming all around, the Republican Governor is taking his case straight to the people of New Jersey.
Christie will speak on his plans for dispersing $ 1.4 billion in Sandy reconstruction aid, even as he denies charges from Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer that his administration threatened to withhold Sandy money if she didn’t comply with a Christie-supported real estate deal.
Given the increased scrutiny, Christie confidantes expect the event Thursday will be toned down with little fanfare.

“He’s going to get back to what got him to where he is, and if he’s more cautious, that’s okay, as long as he doesn’t change his whole style,” Anthony Carbonetti, a longtime Christie associate, told the Washington Post.
The town hall format has become a trademark of Christie move. He has held 109 such events since taking office in January 2010.
His 110th town hall has been rescheduled twice in February, due to the snow. He joked about the scheduling snafus on Twitter this week, with the hashtag “#3rdTimesACharm.”
Thursday’s meeting in Monmouth County kicks off at 11:00am.
