FBI Seeks Men Who Allegedly Robbed Armored Truck Guard in Queens

The FBI is asking for help to find the men that they say robbed an armored truck guard at a Queens bank. NY1′s Mahsa Saeidi filed the following report.

Held at gunpoint, sprayed with mace and robbed of more than $ 300,000, according to sources.

Officials say the brazen armored truck robbery occurred in the vestibule of a Queens bank Friday afternoon.

“This neighborhood is not so great, but I just can’t believe some news like that would happen,” said one person.

“I scared because I always, I come to take the money from the machines,” said another.

Friday evening, NY1 saw dozens of customers stopping by the HSBC Bank on Broadway in Elmhurst, all shocked at the armed robbery just hours earlier.

FBI officials say two armed guards aboard a Garda truck arrived at the busy bank around noon.

According to officials, one of the men stayed with the truck, while the other went inside for a regularly scheduled pickup.

On his way out, according to officials, he was attacked and robbed by three men.

Investigators say the men fled on foot but may have later gotten into in a dark-colored Ford Explorer.

All should be considered armed and extremely dangerous.

“I haven’t seen anything happen like that here,” said property manager Wally Llerandez, who also said that the area could use a larger police presence.

“I see police cars, they come and go, but they’re not really stopping by or checking the area,” he said. “They’re just driving by, driving by.”

GardaWorld is offering a reward of up to $ 50,000 in the case

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 212-384-1000. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
