An 82-year-old woman is dead after an early morning fire ripped through her Brooklyn apartment.
Flames broke out shortly before 3 a.m. Saturday inside a building on Brighton 7th Street in Brighton Beach.
Firefighters say 10 other people were injured.
A neighbor says he tried to pull the woman out of the fire.
“On the left and side there was a lady, an older lady she was burning alive she was asking me for my help, I couldn’t save her because the smoke was too deep, the fire and the home attendant was trying to go back inside so I pulled her out, she burned her hair. Then I got on my knees, I was trying to crawl and grab the lady and it was already too late because the ceiling was going down,” said the neighbor.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but sources say it appears to be electrical.
