Iman Shumpert’s injury comes as the Knicks were trying to include him in a trade with the Clippers.
The Knicks stood pat at the trade deadline, meaning they will continue to try to close ground in the playoff race with the same roster that has resulted in a 21-33 record so far this season.
The Knicks, who had been seeking an upgrade at point guard, announced shortly after the 3 p.m. deadline passed that Iman Shumpert is expected to miss approximately two weeks with what an MRI revealed is a sprained MCL in his surgically repaired left knee.
Still, talks of a potential swap of Shumpert and Raymond Felton to the Clippers involving point guard Darren Collison and Matt Barnes could not be completed before the deadline. Knicks GM Steve Mills was not made available to the media afterward.

The Knicks can’t work out a deal to bring Darren Collison to New York as part of a multi-player trade.
Denver and Washington also had interest in Beno Udrih, but the Nuggets picked up Aaron Brooks from Houston, while the Wizards similarly acquired veteran point guard Andre Miller in a three-team trade with Denver and Philadelphia.

The busy Sixers also traded center Spencer Hawes to Cleveland, and Evan Turner and Lavoy Allen to East-leading Indiana for former All-Star Danny Granger.

Beno Udrih will stay with the Knicks despite interest from Denver and Washington.
Charlotte, currently 3.5 games ahead of the 10th-place Knicks for the
No.8 playoff position in the East, acquired guards Gary Neal and Luke Ridnour from Milwaukee for Ramon Sessions and Jeff Adrien.
