Four & Twenty Blackbirds will offer its delicious strawberry balsamic pie inside the main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library.
How about some pie with that book?
Popular Gowanus pie shop Four & Twenty Blackbirds is set to open its second outpost inside the main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library next month.
Owners and pie gurus Emily and Melissa Elsen opened earlier this week with a limited menu in a temporary space inside the Central Branch while construction on their new cafe in the library’s lobby is being completed.
“We’re very excited to be working with the library,” said Emily Elsen, who opened Four & Twenty Blackbirds on Third Ave. with her sister Melissa in 2010. “It’s a natural and wonderful opportunity.”
The new cafe will boast the shops signature custom-made pies, Stumptown coffee, sandwiches, and other baked goods. The cafe will replace the restaurant Mambo, which closed earlier this month after opening inside the branch in 2009.
The Elsen sisters plan on opening a third, larger location in Gowanus to meet their customer demands, said Emily.
