Woman shot in the head after alleged home invasion

A Queens woman is fighting for her life after being shot in the head during what her boyfriend told cops was a home invasion.

The 22-year-old victim’s boyfriend told police that three masked men with guns barged through the front door of their third floor apartment on 127th Street in Kew Gardens sometime around 9 a.m. Sunday and demanded money, police sources said.

The boyfriend said the woman was then shot in the head when the gun went off during an ensuing struggle with the invaders, who then fled the home, the sources added.

The man then drove his wounded girlfriend to Jamaica Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

Police are currently questioning the unidentified boyfriend and investigating his claims.

Neighbor Charlie Webber, 49, said he “heard something like banging” in the morning.

“Sounded like a heavy hammer,” he said. “It scared me. It got my attention. But they’ve been doing construction next door so I figured it was just them.”

A next-door neighbor said he hears the couple fighting on a regular basis. But he said he didn’t hear anything Sunday morning.

“They usually start fighting at night and go on into the morning,” said Carlos Gomez, 36. “You can hear the woman screaming. …This has been happening since they moved in four months ago.”

A police source at the scene said cops “found a ton of drugs in the apartment.”
