2 dead, 1 hurt after KOMO news helicopter crashes near Seattle’s Space Needle


A Seattle news helicopter plummeted from the sky Tuesday morning and crashed into two cars, exploding in a massive fireball just feet from the city’s distinctive Space Needle, according to reports.


Photos of the scene showed black smoke billowing up from the fiery crash around 7:30 a.m. on the west coast. Three cars on the street may have been involved.

The helicopter reportedly belonged to KOMO News. An unknown number of casualties have been reported.


The news station declined to comment on the crash.


At least two vehicles were consumed by flames in the crash.

One man reportedly ran from one of the damaged cars with his sleeve on fire, and fuel running from the wrecked copter created a streak of flames along the road, KOMO reported.


It is unclear what caused the crash or if anyone was injured.
