FBI Investigating Another Laser Beam Incident at LaGuardia

The FBI is investigating yet another laser beam incident at LaGuardia Airport.

Delta Flight 1102 was preparing to touch down last Tuesday shortly before 8 p.m. when a green laser beam entered the cockpit twice.

One of the flight’s two pilots got “flash blindness,” blurring his vision and causing him pain.

FBI officials believe that the beam came from Queens Boulevard in Elmhurst.

The plane landed without incident, but aviation expert Andrew J. Maloney said that this is far from harmless.

“It is a serious threat, a serious hazard, and it could end in disaster, so the FBI is right to look at this,” Maloney said. “Anybody who’s out there doing that kind of thing and thinks this is some kind of game, they need to understand they’re risking the lives of a lot of people.”

The FBI said that this was the third such incident at a New York area airport since December.

Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 212-384-1000.
