Feds Raid Queens Assemblyman’s Office Amid Expense Probe

Federal investigators on Wednesday raided the home, office and Albany hotel room of a State Assemblyman from Queens who is accused of abusing his expense vouchers.

Agents could be seen carrying away boxes of William Scharborough’s files, also his cell phone and calendar.

Speaking to reporters outside his Albany office, the lawmaker maintained his innocence.

“It is unfortunate because no matter what happens at the end of this, what people will see is what’s going on right now. But I do not believe that I have misrepresented the Assembly, I do not believe that I have misrepresented the voucher system,” Scharborough said.

Assembly members are allowed to make expense claims when they spend the night in Albany.

The FBI claims that Scarborough has taken advantage of this allotment.
