National Transportation Safety Board investigators on Tuesday said they found a leak in a gas main next to one of the buildings that was brought down by last week’s explosion in East Harlem.
The agency says the leak was found in an 8-inch iron and plastic pipe next to 1646 Park Avenue.
Investigators have now removed two segments of gas line found in the basements of the destroyed buildings.
They will be taken to the NTSB lab in Washington for analysis.
Crews at the site will continue to run pressure tests.
