Hardhat-wearing crook robs Queens granny

The New York City Police Department is asking the public's assistance identifying the suspect wanted for a robbery within the confines of the 109 Precinct. Details are as follows:DCPI Cops say this hardhat-wearing suspect robbed a 71-year-old woman in her Queens apartment building.

A hard-hearted hardhat broke a 71-year-old woman’s leg during a Saturday afternoon robbery in a Queens apartment building, officials said.


The creepy crook was sporting a yellow construction helmet and wearing a white surgical mask over his face when he followed the senior into her Flushing apartment building at 1:30 p.m., according to police. He also had a tool bag slung over his shoulder, cops said.


He joined the septuagenarian on the elevator and followed his victim to her apartment door, where he pushed her to the ground and ran off with her money and pocketbook.


The woman fractured her leg when she fell, officials said.


Paramedics rushed her to the New York Hospital Medical Center of Queens for treatment.


The thief, described as a white or Hispanic man between 30 and 40 years old, was still at large Saturday night. Anyone with with information about this man’s whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
