David Wright flashed some leather in the fourth inning Sunday, making a spectacular sliding, over-the-shoulder catch in foul territory on a Casey McGehee popup in front of the rolled-up tarp in left field. The grab evoked memories of his highlight-reel barehanded grab against the Padres in 2005.

“With the sun where it is, you get these kind of gusts of wind, and you don’t know exactly what the ball’s going to do,” Wright said. “You have to get to a certain point and look up to find it again. I guessed right where the ball was going to be and then it’s a matter of making sure tarp doesn’t catch up with you.

“That’s kind of a panic slide,” he added, “because you don’t want to go barreling into that tarp.”

CHRIS GOES TO 11

On the 11th pitch of his at-bat, Chris Young crushed a two-run homer to left field in the fourth, his second home run of the season. Young had pulled one that went just foul earlier in the at-bat before straightening it out.

Young is hitting just .194 but had a stint on the DL after Opening Day with a right quad injury.

“The fact that he has such a good spring and comes up with a leg injury early, he’s really kind of getting his feet under him at the major league level with the pitching he’s gotta face,” Terry Collins said. “But he’s dangerous. We know that. He’s athletic, we see the power, it’s still there. I just hope this is the start, because I thought every one of his at-bats was pretty good today.”

RECKER CREW

Maybe the fastest way to 90 wins is with Anthony Recker behind the dish. The Mets improved to 6-0 when the backup catcher starts. He went 1-for-4.

Recker said he takes pride in the 6-0 mark. “That’s great to hear,” he said. “I like to think I can contribute, and that’s all I ever want to do as a backup catcher is contribute to wins.”
