A subway tunnel badly damaged during Hurricane Sandy will reopen sooner than expected.
The Montague Tunnel connects Brooklyn and Manhattan on the R line.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority shut it down last August to start major repair work -forcing R train riders to take a different line between the boroughs.
The project was expected to keep the tunnel closed until October, but the MTA says repairs are moving along more quickly than expected.
The agency did not offer up a specific date for the tunnel to reopen.
