Police are looking into whether speed or rain might have been factors that sent a car into the waters in Queens Friday, killing four people.
The investigation continues, but police say the driver tried to make a U-turn at the end of 19th Avenue in Astoria, which is a dead-end street.
Instead, it’s believed that the Honda Accord slipped on wet pavement and plunged into Steinway Creek.
The four victims were remembered Saturday night at a vigil in East Elmhurst.
Mourners sang “Happy Birthday” on what would have been Crystal Gravely’s 20th birthday.
She was killed, along with 21-year-old Darius Fletcher, 19-year-old Jada Monique Butts and 20-year-old Jaleel Fuertado.
Fuertado’s uncle, Bernard Daniels, spoke highly of the victims and expressed solidarity with the other families.
“On behalf of the Luis Fuertado family, we want to offer our condolences, our love and support to all of the families involved,” Daniels said. “They were all great kids, and they will be missed.”
The driver, 20-year-old Andrew Gramm, was the only person to survive.
Police say a breathalyzer showed that he had no alcohol in his system.
No criminal charges have been filed.
