Quentin Tarantino may be concocting another revenge fantasy film after his lawsuit against Gawker Media was dismissed by a California judge on Wednesday.

Tarantino filed suit against the media company after they posted an article in January linking to the leaked script of his film “The Hateful Eight.” Tarantino decided to scrap the film after he learned that the script had made its way online.

In his suit, Tarantino contended that Gawker contributed to copyright infringement by linking to the script.

“There was nothing newsworthy or journalistic about Gawker Media facilitating and encouraging the public’s violation of Plantiff’s copyright in the Screenplay, and it’s conduct will not shield Gawker media from liability for their unlawful action,” documents filed in the suit, obtained by The Wrap, read.

Judge John F. Walker, however, sided with Gawker’s motion to dismiss the suit.

“Nowhere in these paragraphs or anywhere else in the Complaint does Plaintiff allege a single act of direct infringement committed by any member of the general public that would support Plaintiff’s cliam for contributory infringement,” the judge concluded. “Plaintiff has failed to adequately plead facts establishing direct infringement by a third party or facts that would demonstrate Defendant either caused, induced, or materially contributed to the alleged direct infringement of those third part infringers.”

The judge did leave room for Tarantino to file an amendment for his claim of copyright infringement, with a filing deadline on May 1.
