President Barack Obama will be in New York next week to urge Congress to act on legislation to fund road and bridge repair.
A White House official says the president will speak in front of the Tappan Zee bridge, which is in the process of being replaced by a new span.
The Highway Transportation Fund is on course to run out of money in August unless congress votes to replenish it.
President Obama put forward a $ 300 billion funding proposal earlier this year and a group of senators is working on a proposal of their own.
