An event held to mark the National September 11th Memorial Museum’s opening isn’t sitting well with some victims’ families.
Officials at the museum described the event as a small gathering to honor donors.
They say some 9/11 family members were even present.
Some victims’ families say the event desecrated the grounds of the memorial.
“This morning I wanted to run down to the site. I wanted to go and I wanted to run down and grab the remains out. I got this urgency inside of me that I haven’t felt since 9/11,” said Rosaleen Collan, a family member of a 9/11 victim.
“These people callously and deliberately went down there last night with their cocktails and their food and their music and the desecrated what means so much to us, this sacred sacred ground,” said Rosemary Cain, another family member.
Some family members say they want the city to poll all 9/11 families to find out where they think is the best place to keep the victims’ remains.
