NYPD Officer Injured in High-Rise Fire Heads Home


A city police officer who was seriously injured in a Brooklyn fire last month is was released form the hospital Monday.


Officer Rosa Rodriguez was overcome with smoke when she and her partner answered a call of a fire in a Coney Island high-rise back on April 6.


She has been in the hospital ever since, recovering from carbon monoxide poisoning and smoke inhalation.


Her partner, 38-year-old Officer Dennis Guerra, died three days after the fire.


Marcel Dockery, 16, is accused of starting the flames by setting fire to a mattress in the building’s hallway.


He is facing a number of charges including second degree murder.
