Met Extends Expiring Union Contracts One Week for Review

The Metropolitan Opera and two of its unions are extending its contracts another week to allow an independent financial analyst to assess the Met’s finances.

Its first extension was set to expire Sunday night.

The extension is being applied to contracts with Local 802 and the American Guild of Musical Artists.

The Met recently reached new contract agreements with three non-theatrical unions.

Discussions with another ten unions are now temporarily on hold until the review is complete.
