Family of Bronx Teen Shot to Death By Police in 2012 Meets With DOJ

The family of the Bronx teen shot to death by a city police officer in 2012 says the Department of Justice is investigating.

Ramarley Graham’s parents met with DOJ officials at the U.S. attorney’s office in Manhattan Wednesday.

They say they were satisfied that a civil rights investigation is underway, but they also want to see the case go before a grand jury soon.

“From the day they killed my son, I made him a promise that I would continue to fight for justice. I appreciate this meeting today with the DOJ,” said Franclot Graham, Ramarley’s father.

“We gave them a deadline and they met the deadline, and we appreciate that. And moving forward, we want to make sure we stay on top of them and keep pushing and keep Ramarley out there and get justice for Ramarley,” said Constance Malcolm, Ramarley’s mother.

Graham was shot and killed inside his Bronx home by Officer Richard Haste after being chased by police.

The officers said they thought Graham had a gun, but none was found.

A judge tossed out the original indictment against Haste on a technicality.

A second grand jury declined to indict him.
