Discredited NYPD Detective Louis Scarcella was dragged into court Tuesday as lawyers argued over whether yet another murder conviction on a case he investigated should be overturned amidst allegations of misconduct.
Rosean Hargrave and another man were convicted in the death of Rolando Neischer in a 1991 Crown Heights carjacking. Hargrave has been behind bars ever since.
Hargave’s attorney, Pierre Sussman, questioned the prosecutor on the case — casting doubt on Scarcella’s police work. The proceeding stretched late, and there wasn’t time for Scarcella, the focus of a probe into 70 homicide convictions, to take the stand.
